I have a few of these wonderful bags from an organization that I used to be associated with (vague, huh?).  They are great…but, I wasn’t using them because they had the organization’s name on the outside of the bag.

While searching through my bags for a good one to carry my art supplies while I travel on vacation, I rediscovered them.  But…ya, know…I had to figure out how to cover the name.  Thankfully, I have a wonderful craft room.  Immediately, I went to work figuring out how to  altered this bag and make it more fun.

The first step was to identify what I could reasonably change.  So, something over the org’s name and perhaps something on the dark blue areas.  Blue really isn’t my favorite and this bag while sturdy, filled with pockets, and perfect…is not very artsy.

The decision was to find some canvas and make a pocket for the outside and do something with the blue rim to make it more interesting.

Tattered Angels High Impact Paint is…fabric safe!

  1. Base:  This canvas bag was a promotional bag for a group that I am no longer part of.
  2. Rim:  High Impact Paint – Aqua and Silver.  I used a few regular household items/lids to make the circles.
  3. Pocket:  Canvas Corp Brands canvas cut two inches bigger than needed, “painted” with a gelli plate, stencils, and High Impact Paint – Purple, Aqua, and Olive.  I attached this with Aleene’s Fabric Fusion.  I created two pockets by gluing down the center.
