I loved making the hearts, the banner, and sharing how to make them on Periscope. To find out when I am doing another Periscope check out my Facebook page.
Don’t be put off by the number of steps! This is easy…it is the written explanation that is tedious.
Steps:
- Cut 6 strips of heavy weight paper. I used: Pink and Ivory Dot Reverse and White and Kraft Fleur de Lis.
- If one-sided color the plain side. I used: Simply Sheer – Hot Pink and Glimmer Mist – Vintage Pink.
- Put under something that will weigh down the strips as they dry. I put it under my craft mat for 1-3 minutes.
- Pinch off 3 inches from 2 strips and tear one strip in the middle.
- Fold one 12-inch strip in half and glue together.
- Place a small dot of glue at 2 inches from the bottom of the doubled strip (opposite the fold), over this place a 12 inch strip, line it up with the bottom. Watch which direction you are laying this down. You want the side that will be on the outside toward the doubled strip.
- Place a small dot of glue at 2 inches from the bottom of 12 inch strip on top of the doubled strip (opposite the fold), over this place a 9 inch strip, line it up with the bottom. Watch which direction you are laying this down. You want the side that will be on the outside toward the doubled strip.
- Place a small dot of glue at 2 inches from the bottom of 9 inch strip on top of the doubled strip (opposite the fold), over this place a 6 inch strip, line it up with the bottom. Watch which direction you are laying this down. You want the side that will be on the outside toward the doubled strip.
- Place a small dot of glue 1.5 inches from the bottom on the 6 inch strip. Fold the 6 inch strip so that it lines up with the bottom and press together where the glue is. Repeat this step for the 9 and 12 inch strips.
- For the other side repeat steps 6-9.
- Wrap and glue a 3 inch strip around the area that is about 1.5 inches from the bottom (where you did the second gluing to make the loops).
- Adhere decoration to 3 inch strip in front.
- Curl the ends.
- Drill a hole in doubled strip at top for banner.
- Glue outside each side loop to form the shape heart desired.
- Attach to cording to make the banner. I used 24 inches; 6 inches on either end with hearts 6 inches apart. 3 x 10 inches of Hot Pink Hemp. Each heart is tied to the banner with a square knot with the white cording inserted in the middle of the knot.
