With Spring erupting everywhere I thought I would take some flowers from my yard tCanvas Corp Brand CCB Creative Crewo a friend.  I have the flowers…and I needed a vase.  So, the DIYer/Home Decorer in me also erupted – with so many glass jars I should be able to figure something out.  Right?  After doing my due diligence (internet research), I came up with a plan.  I like to use what I have on hand so…

Please note, this is a project where “perfection” isn’t required.  Imperfections will be seen as age and interest!

I ended up with a colorful vase that will brighten up and room,

Steps:

  1. Find a clear glass jar.  This is one that had pickled beets…yummy!
  2. Mod Podge on fine toile-like ribbon.
  3. Mod Podge on diecut shapes.  I used ones I already had, if they are colored it doesn’t matter!
  4. Allow to dry.
  5. To create more interest and dimension, use stencils with light modeling paste.
  6. Allow to dry.
  7. I painted the base coat using two different colors of craft paint that were different shades of a yellow-based white.
  8. Allow to dry.
  9. Dry brush and daub with stencils to apply High Impact – Olive all over.
  10. Spray from top to bottom (generally):  Glimmer Mist – Bittersweet, Simply Sheer – Hot Pink, and Chalkboard – Mantis.  Repeat as need to get the desired look.
  11. Allow to dry.
  12. For sparkles spray all over with Glimmer Mist – Nougat.  Use High Impact – Orange to highlight areas.
  13. Apply at least one coat of Mod Podge.
  14. Allow to dry.
  15. If desired apply several coats of polyurethane to waterproof.
  16. Embellish:  Flowers, green burlap, Jute bows, Orange  and Green Hemp (knotted), tassel, pink clothespins.
  17. Tag:  Seed Packets on Ivory, edges distressed with Distress Ink – Marmalade, flower colored with Simply Sheer Hot Pink and Chalkboard – Mantis, some background colored with Glimmer Mist – Bittersweet.  Two inch circle:  Pink and Ivory Ribbon Stripe paper – Distress Ink – Raspberry and Honey, folded in 1/2 and adhered.  1/2 inch circle -pattered green paper, hold punched.
