This is my first attempt at creating my own pattern for iris folding. Details:

  1. I created my own kite with Silhouette, cut it out, and used the shape to trace the kite onto copy paper.  This is what I used to create the iris folding template.
  2. The main learning is that the first lines you drawn need to connect outside the shape!  I used these instructions to create my own kite pattern.  You will notice that the pattern        has a big shape at the bottom.  I didn’t prefer that so I divided that into three sections when I was placing the strips.
  3. The top layer was embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  I thought it looked like wind!  Then I inked it with white stamp ink to bring it out.
  4. I used the die cut of the kite tail on the back!
